Perfect conditions for the blu26 Cup Bavaria 2019
Privileged conditions for the sailors of the blu26 Cup Bavaria at Tegernsee! Ten boats in total and over 40 sailors from all over Germany, Denmark and Switzerland lined up on the starting line to determine who would be the best of Bavaria 2019 among them.
Following the traditional sailors gathering at Bräustüberl Tegernsee on Friday, celebrating around ‘Brotzeit’ and beer, the first racing day kicked off with great wind conditions. Between 4 to 5 Beaufort from the north-east challenged the sailors, so that on Saturday five races could be accomplished already. Saturday night proved once again an excellent social event, with a great atmosphere amongst the teams and the live music. After a good start on Sunday, the wind lessened and despite subsequent attempted starts, the racing committee decided to close the regatta.
After six races in total, Michael Klötzli and his team ‘Hazel’ sailed to win the cup confidently, followed by the Danish team ‘GoSail’ in second place and team ‘Voodoo Child’ in third. In fourth place was Roland Metzner and his team from the local yacht club.
Moreover, an exciting experience was the automated and GPS-steered buoy system by ROBOBOJ, which the racing committee could test for the first time at Tegernsee.
Overall the blu26 Cup Bavaria 2019 was a successful event. The blu26 class thanks all the helpers of the Yacht-Club Bad Wiessee for the perfect organization and seamless operation by the race officer Wolfgang Kordes along with the head of the jury committee Florian Abele. We will be back!
